Alex made a folding cell phone stand/headphone winder entirely out of InstaMorph.
“To make this, I rolled a credit card-sized sheet of InstaMorph, cut it into three pieces, and then connected the pieces with hinges. I made the sleeve of the hinge by wrapping a very thin sheet of InstaMorph around a coat-hanger wire and then rolling it into a smooth cylinder. I then made the pins in the hinges by rolling a strand of InstaMorph that was thick enough to fit snugly within the sleeve.
After I assembled the three pieces, I used small pieces of InstaMorph to limit how much each hinge can rotate and to prevent the stand from folding flat under the weight of a phone. I then made cutouts in the middle piece to help secure headphone wires and to reduce mass.”
